Islamic Religious Education

The Islamic Religious Education program is structured to ensure students understand core beliefs (Aqeedah), jurisprudence (Fiqh), prophetic biography (Seerah), and Islamic character (Akhlaq). Instruction is not limited to theory; it is reinforced through participation in real community initiatives.

For example, during the annual Ramadan Toy Drive initiative, organized through the Markaz and supported by the We Care Unit, students learn the Islamic principles of charity in practice. Over six years, this initiative has raised over $12,000 and collected thousands of toys for families in need. Students do not only donate, they help organize, package, and distribute.

Similarly, during the Fast-a-Thon community engagement events, students observe and participate in interfaith dialogue, learning how Islamic values coexist respectfully within the broader Fort McMurray community.

Academic KG-Grade 8 Alternative Program

The Academic School operates as an Alternative Program aligned with Alberta Education standards. It integrates provincial curriculum with Islamic character development, ensuring students excel academically while maintaining strong moral grounding.

Students are exposed to leadership and service from a young age. Participation in community initiatives such as the Community BBQ at Gregoire Lake and charity events reinforces teamwork, responsibility, and civic engagement.
