The We Care Unit at Markaz Ul Islam provides compassionate, confidential support services for individuals and families helping people navigate stress, grief, family challenges, settlement barriers, and crisis moments with dignity and care.

MISSION

The We Care Unit exists to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and faith-aware community support that strengthens wellbeing, restores dignity, and connects individuals and families to practical pathways of stability and hope.

What We Offer

At We Care Unit, we focus on prevention, support, and empowerment. Below is a brief overview of the services available to individuals, families, and the broader community.

Immediate Support & Navigation

We provide timely guidance for individuals and families facing urgent challenges. Our team helps connect you to the right resources, services, and community supports so you are never left navigating di cult situations alone.

Short-Term Counseling & Check-ins

We o er short-term, solution-focused support for individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, or life transitions. Regular check-ins help ensure stability and provide early intervention before concerns escalate

Family & Parenting Support

We support parents and caregivers with practical tools, workshops, and one-on-one guidance to strengthen communication, build healthy relationships, and navigate generational and cultural challenges with confidence

Grief & Bereavement Support

We provide compassionate support for individuals and families coping with loss. Through guided conversations and community-based healing spaces, we help individuals process grief in a healthy and supportive environment.

Newcomer / Immigrant Support

We assist newcomers and immigrant families in adapting to their new environment by providing cultural orientation, connection to services, and community integration support to foster belonging and stability

Indigenous & Community Partnerships

We collaborate respectfully with Indigenous communities and local partners to deliver culturally grounded programs. Our partnerships focus on empowerment, mental wellness, youth development, and long-term community resilience.

Community Outreach & Drives

Through outreach initiatives, donation drives, and community events, we respond to local needs while strengthening unity, compassion, and collective responsibility across Fort McMurray and surrounding areas.

Wellness Workshops & Group Programs

Our workshops and group programs are designed to strengthen individuals and families before challenges become crises. Through interactive sessions, community discussions, and skill-building activities, we focus on mental wellness, emotional resilience, leadership
development, identity, faith, and personal growth.

Mental Health Prevention

Mental health prevention means taking action before serious problems start. It focuses on building strong minds, strong families, and strong communities so people don’t fall into crisis, addiction, depression, violence, or isolation.
